First Tuesday in August

Turn your outdoor lights on, lock your home, and spend the evening outside getting acquainted with your neighbors!

Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, and neighborhood cookouts, National Night Out is something we can all do to make Tumwater neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live with a true sense of community.

Great communities don't just happen; it takes good neighbors to make them.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police—community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

In addition to connecting with your neighbors, connect with City staff, and members of the Police Department and Fire departments as they drop by neighborhood events in Tumwater.

What can you do?

Host a National Night Out event in your Tumwater neighborhood! Events can range from as simple as a few neighbors enjoying time together on the front porch, to a community wide celebration, potluck, flashlight walk, or a root beer float party.

The benefits your community will derive from National Night Out will most certainly extend beyond the one night.

Help to plan your party!

There's money available for event supplies from the Neighborhood Event Grant program. Apply today!
