Annual Clean-up, Drop-off Event

Safely discard unused prescriptions and expired medications; donate gently used clothing and household items, non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, bicycles, books; e-cycle computers, laptops and other electronics; and shred personal, sensitive or financial documents.

It's fast, and it's free.

Stop by the Clean-up, Drop-off event from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the Tumwater City Hall parking lot at 555 Israel Road, Tumwater, WA 98501.

Volunteers will help unload your vehicle, there's no need to get out of your car. Just drive through and drop off.

Please reduce cardboard waste by reusing your boxes, using paper bags or reusable plastic totes.


Responsibly destroy unused prescriptions or old medications at the Tumwater Police Department’s Prescription Drop Box.

Shred personal, sensitive or financial documents to protect against identity theft at the shredding truck, sponsored by O Bee Credit Union. Please limit to 5 bags.

Thurston County Public Health Representatives will be at the event with information and to answer questions about properly disposing of hazardous household items both through HazoHouse, Waste Management and other convenient locations throughout Thurston County. This service is free for residents of Thurston County.


If you're not using it, you may not need it. Donate your gently used items and help people right here in our community.

Guidelines for Donations

Each partner organization reserves the right to accept or reject donated items that do not meet their requirements, and to make referrals to other organizations. Partner organizations are accepting the following items:

Community Youth Services - Rosie's Place Shelter is accepting donations for socks, new underwear of all sizes for men and women, deodorant, combs/brushes, shampoo/conditioner, hand warmers, jackets/hoodies, men's clothing, plus size clothing, chap stick, camping gear of all types, rain gear of all types. 

Goodwill is accepting donations of small furniture, household items, toys, kitchen items, sporting equipment, and clothes and e-cycling, too!

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is accepting donations of building materials, quality gently used furniture, and gently used appliances.

Intercity Transit Walk N' Roll is accepting new or used bicycles, helmets,  and bicycle parts for “Earn-a-Bike” program. Learn more about the program on their website

Joint Animal Services of Thurston County will be accepting donations of unopened pet food, pet collars and leashes, toys.

Thurston County Food Bank is accepting non-perishable unopened food items and fresh produce from your home garden.

Thurston County Public Health & Social Services will provide information to those wanting to dispose of hazardous items, on behalf of HazoHouse and Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center.

Tumwater Timberland Regional Library and Friends of the Library is accepting donations of all kinds of books in gently used condition.

Value Village is accepting donations of clothing, purses, shoes, and clean bed and bath linens.

YWCA The Other Bank is accepting donations of unopened hygiene products for men and women( Shampoo, Body Wash, Dish Soap, Toilet, Paper, Men’s deodorant, Body Lotion, Baby Wipes, Pull ups (sizes 2t/3t, 3t/4t, 4t/5t), Diapers (sizes 5 & 6).

Questions about donations? 

Please contact the partner organization or check their website for more information. The following items will not be accepted:

  • Sharps will not be collected with medications.
  • Trash and yard waste will not be collected at this event.
  • Hazardous materials will not be collected at this event but representatives will be on site to guide you to area recycling locations for such items.

Hazardous Materials

Thurston County Public Health Representatives will be at the event with information and to answer questions about properly disposing of hazardous household items at HazoHouse, Waste Management and other convenient locations in Thurston County.

HazoHouse is located at the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE in Lacey, will accept and properly dispose of chemicals and toxins. This service is free for Thurston County residents.
