2020 CensusWA Counts 2020

Census Day is April 1, 2020

The census is a count of every person who lives in the United States and its territories. It happens every 10 years. Beginning mid-March, you will be asked to count everyone who lives in your home as of April 1. Responding to the 2020 Census
is a chance to shape your future.

Complete Count Committee

When everyone is counted in the census, our communities get the funding they need for things like health care, education, emergency services, and more.

Along with the thousands of temporary workers hired to help with survey collection, the U.S. Census Bureau has asked local communities to form "Complete Count Committees" to help reach residents who are traditionally "hard to count." Complete Count Committees work with local organizations and the media to inform residents about Census 2020, encourage participation, and ensure survey success.

Thurston Regional Planning Council is coordinating the Thurston Region Complete Count Committee in our community. Learn more and get involved at

The census will never ask for Social Security numbers, bank or credit card numbers, money or donations, or anything related to political parties.
