Why Tumwater City Council?
Kelly Von Holtz is dedicated to finding a balance between meeting Tumwater’s future housing needs while preserving the city’s beautiful, green spaces. She is passionate about reducing poverty, public safety and working toward making Tumwater a place of true belonging for all of its residents. Her core interests include housing, transportation, the environment, and equity and inclusion. Kelly moved to Tumwater 16 years ago as a newly single mom of three. She found support from the community that helped her family thrive. Her children benefitted from Tumwater’s former after-school program at the Old Town Center, receiving snacks, homework help and supervision during her workday—an invaluable resource that allowed her peace of mind those few hours between when school got out and she got home. She is married to retired Army Veteran, Joseph Von Holtz and together, they have a blended family of six grown children. Kelly and her husband enjoy being Kee Kee and Pop Pop to their granddaughter, Justice, and enjoy their empty nest with their three fur babies, Lily, Lola and Teddy. Inspired by her family and her community experiences, Kelly is committed to giving back and ensuring that all Tumwater Community voices are heard as the Council and city make policy.
