Non-City Projects

The City of Tumwater manages City Projects only. Other public agencies, private utilities, and nonprofits provide services and oversee construction within the Tumwater city limits. Sometimes these projects interrupt daily activities of Tumwater citizens and businesses. Construction activities require permits and the City works with contractors and responsible agencies to manage the impact to the transportation system and daily activities and works to inform citizens about potential impacts through the Construction Alert system. Links to projects for some non-City construction projects are available for convenient reference. For details, please contact the responsible agency, or call Public Works at (360) 754-4140 for a project contact referral.

In 2005, the City of Tumwater began working with WSDOT (Washington State Department of Transportation) to install fiber optic cable as part of the City’s long term fiber optic plan.

WSDOT Projects

The City of Tumwater is part of an Interlocal Agreement with the  cities of Olympia and Lacey, as well as Thurston County in an effort to efficiently manage the community’s wastewater treatment.
