Public Works Department

The City of Tumwater Public Works Department provides services that we all use every day... from quality drinking water at home to the trails, sidewalks and streets we travel throughout the City. Public Works is here day and night helping to keep Tumwater’s residents, businesses and visitors safe, and ensuring these vital services continue throughout our City. The Public Works Department is comprised of two divisions: Engineering, and Operations and Maintenance.

Engineering Division

The Engineering Division, located downstairs in City Hall, 555 Israel Road SW, is responsible for the overall management of the capital projects in the Capital Facilities Plan and the administrative aspects of the transportation and utility systems. Engineering works closely with the Community Development Department to ensure that city streets and utilities are built and maintained to performance and safety standards. Water Resources also falls under the purview of the Engineering Division. Call (360) 754-4140 for assistance.

Operations & Maintenance Division

The Operations & Maintenance Division, located at 7200 New Market Street, is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the transportation and utility infrastructure, and the maintenance and repair of city-owned vehicles and rolling stock.
