Discard unused medications

In partnership with the Thurston County Health Department, a prescription drop box can be found inside the main entrance to the Police Department adjacent to City Hall. Citizens may drop off their old prescription medications in order to prevent them from being flushed, disposed of in our landfills, or abused. Old medications should not be left in unsecured medicine cabinets, and are not safe to dump in the trash or down the drain.  Accidental poisonings and intentional misuse of medications is a serious problem.  Studies have shown that prescription drugs are making their way into our natural water supply, which poses a risk to the environment and the health of the community. Please note that this does not act as a needle depository.
