Health, Safety and Quality of Life
The City of Tumwater has adopted a Municipal Code to protect the health, safety and welfare of our community.
The Code Compliance team provides courteous and effective compliance and enforcement services, and helps property owners maintain compliance with the Tumwater Municipal Code.
Codes are enforced on a complaint basis, such as a concerned citizen who calls in, by neighborhood inspections, or staff may become aware of an issue while traveling through the area
In most cases, the Code Compliance team and the property owner will work collaboratively to resolve the issue, within a specified time frame, and without incurring a penalty.
Frequently, residents are unaware of codes or requirements pertaining to general property maintenance and zoning.
Our goal is to promote and encourage voluntary compliance with municipal codes to ensure that all properties meet code requirements
