Tumwater Youth Baseball - Summer League

Due to the cancellation/postponement of our spring league, and based on a parent survey, we are moving forward with a summer baseball league, including re-opening registration for additional players.

Summer League timeline:

The league will run July 13 through August 21 (Practices: July 13 - 24, Games: July 27 - August 21).

Register Online

Combined Divisions:

To facilitate a lower number of teams and a shorter season, we have condensed the three divisions to form two divisions: K-2 and 3-5. Rules will be specified for each division to allow for a wider age range.

Health and safety guidelines:

All league games and practices will be required to follow state and local health guidelines. Please see our Return to Play Safety Plan as well the new COVID-19 Program Waiver. This waiver is required for all participants and must be returned prior to the start of practice. Waivers may be submitted to tumwaterparks@ci.tumwater.wa.us

Our goal is to offer a safe and healthy option to return to baseball, but we understand that this schedule and these health guidelines may not work for everyone. Please see the directions below on how to proceed depending on your choice.

Already registered and want to participate?

Stay tuned for your team assignment and schedule for practices to resume. We’re trying to keep the same teams but some may need to change due to coach availability. Please remember to complete the COVID-19 waiver above and submit before the return to practice.

Scholarships:

A limited number of scholarships are available to those who are eligible. Required forms and 50% of the fee must be submitted by Friday, February 14 to be considered. Call (360) 754-4160 for more information.

Uniforms & Play

All players are outfitted with uniforms (shirt, pants, and hat). Uniforms are available for sizing at registration. Teams practice two times per week, typically weeknights, with the possibility of Saturdays, beginning in early March. Games begin in early April (typically the week after Spring Break.)

K/1st division is coach pitch for the entire season. 2nd/3rd division begins with coach pitch and progresses to kid pitch. This format significantly increases the hitter’s opportunity to put the ball in play resulting in more defensive opportunities which is fun and exciting for everyone! 4th/5th division will be kid pitch only.

Volunteer Coaches

The Tumwater Baseball league cannot operate without volunteer involvement. Parents and interested community members are invited to get involved as a coach and create a positive experience for the youth of this community. Volunteer coaches are needed so we encourage you to contact Tumwater Parks & Recreation today to receive an informational coach’s packet (or download below). League registration and coach’s packets are available in the Parks and Recreation office and online beginning in January.

Modeling Sportsmanship

Tumwater Baseball is intended for players of all abilities. This league’s focus is on individual and team skill development with an emphasis on fundamentals, sportsmanship, and fun while playing the great game of baseball. All parents and coaches are asked to maintain this philosophy by demonstrating good sportsmanship toward the players, coaches, umpires, and fans. Tumwater Parks & Recreation thanks you, in advance, for your cooperation!
