Areas of Special Interest/Priorities

With the continuation of growth in our City, we need to be mindful of Tumwater's rich history and how we preserve that legacy as we move forward. There is a delicate balance between economic development and maintaining our quality of life as well as protecting our environment. Furthermore, it is important that we have adequate and affordable housing for our citizens regardless of income. Our school system has to have the funding needed to provide our students the best opportunities to be successful in their lives by providing them with the educational tools needed to succeed. We have to be mindful of the effects that bullying, opioid use, and vaping has on our youth and society as a whole.

Charlie and his wife, Nancy, moved to Tumwater in 2015 to be closer to three of their eleven grandkids. Having been active through volunteerism for many years, Charlie wanted to bring that experience to both his new neighborhood and the community he proudly calls home.

Since calling Tumwater home, Charlie has been actively involved with the Tumwater Youth Program, Camp to Belong summer camp for foster kids, Adopt-a-Road cleanup, Stream Team, Capitol Land Trust, Native Plant Salvage, and many other organizations within our local area.
