 2019 Santa Mobile

 North Pole Report

  • $2,306 in Cash Donations

  • 4,245 pounds of Food Donated

The streets scheduled for 2019 were all visited - some through creative scheduling due to rain-outs.  Thurston County Food Bank provided a van each night to help with food collections.  Very Helpful!

As always, Santa and his elves had another great year at the  Tree Lighting Festival hosted by our amazing Parks and Recreation Department.

Santa asked to share his thanks for all the help he received this year.

Every December, the Tumwater Fire Department operates a Santa Mobile for children in the area. For two or three weeks before Christmas, Santa drives an antique, open cab, fire engine down the streets of Tumwater. Along with a small crew of volunteer elves, Santa visits nearly every street – weather permitting – in the City in an effort to bring some holiday cheer to families in our community. Santa and the elves pass out candy canes, purchased and donated by the Fire Fighter’s Union, to children while playing an array of melodies from inside the fire engine. Santa and his elves also collect gifts food or money – all of which are delivered to the Thurston County Food Bank.

The Santa Mobile has been a long-standing tradition with the Tumwater Fire Department. We are proud to be part of this special community service.

What is the Santa Mobile schedule?

During the week, Santa and the Elves leave the Tumwater Fire Department North End station at 6:00 p.m. and are out until around 8 or 9:00 p.m. On the weekend, they leave at 4:00 p.m. and don’t return until 9:00 p.m. All scheduled outings are weather-dependent. With an open cab fire engine, there is no protection against rain, snow, or cold winds, so Santa and the elves do their best when faced when wintry weather conditions. But at times, it’s just impossible for them to get out.
