Christmas Family Small File

 'Tis the Season

There are many ways to help make holidays more festive for children and families in need.

Here are a few of the many great programs in the community to help our neighbors around the holidays and throughout the year.

 Make a Child's Holiday Brighter

The Tumwater Lions Club works in cooperation with the City and the Tumwater School District to provide toys, shoes, coats, and food to children in the holiday season. The program began over 20 years ago by City staff as a community service project. Now, the Tumwater Lions Club operates it, in partnership with the Tumwater School District and the City.

Pick up a gift request tag and shop for a child, or make a donation to the Lions Club Foundation and they will do the shopping for you. Gift request tags are available at Tumwater City Hall. All gifts should be dropped off by Friday, December 13.

Toys for Tots

The US Marine Corps leads a nationwide campaign to ensure every child has a toy. Collection boxes for Toys for Tots are in the Tumwater Fire Station Headquarters lobby and the City Hall lobby. There is no wish list, simply pick out a toy you think a child would like and bring it by.

Fill the Pantry Shelves

Donate non-perishable food items to the Thurston County Food Bank during the annual Holiday Food Drive at City Hall and the Headquarters Fire Department during regular business hours.

Bar Soap Drive

Utility Assistance Program

The Tumwater Utility Hardship Assistance Program is a relief fund available to help qualified utility customers with past due water and sewer bills. The program is supported with voluntary donations from customers, businesses, and community members. It is administered by the Community Action Council, on behalf of the City of Tumwater.
