Each year, the City of Tumwater allocates funding to support human services organizations that provide essential aid to vulnerable, low-income, and disadvantaged residents.

Tumwater participates in a regional human services funding approach through Thurston County. In addition, the city designates specific funds for agencies that offer a direct benefit to Tumwater residents but may not qualify for funding through the regional process. These locally designated funds are distributed through the Community Human Services Program (CHSP).

The open application period for 2025 CHSP funding has closed. 

2025 Community Human Services Funding Opportunity

The City of Tumwater is inviting local agencies that provide essential human services to Tumwater residents to apply for funding for the 2025 calendar year. Through the Community Human Services Program (CHSP), approximately $15,000 will be available to support organizations that serve vulnerable, low-income, or disadvantaged individuals within the community. A portion of the total $15,000 in available funding will be awarded to selected applicants, with individual grant amounts typically not exceeding $3,000.

Important: Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Next Steps
Agencies that submit complete applications by the deadline will be contacted to schedule a required presentation before the city’s Budget and Finance Committee. Based on these presentations, the committee will make funding recommendations to the Tumwater City Council as part of the city's budget process.

Organizations selected for funding will be required to enter into an agreement with the City of Tumwater.
