2020 Arbor Day Celebration

The 2020 City of Tumwater Arbor Day Celebration has been postponed until further notice and will be rescheduled if possible.

At this event, residents can take home Arbor Day memorabilia and learn from professional arborists on the proper care and planting of trees.  This event includes activities for kids, free tree-related give-away items, information about tree care, and instructions for planting trees.

The City of Tumwater Tree Board will provide a selection of tree species and participants may select a free seedling, while supplies last, to take home and plant.

For more information on the Arbor Day Celebration, please email Brad Medrud, Planning Manager, or call (360) 754-4180.

Arbor Day

Arbor Day was first celebrated in Nebraska in 1872, when J. Sterling Morton proposed that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees.  This holiday is now observed throughout the world to celebrate the many benefits of trees.
