Role of the City's Hearing Examiner
The role of the Hearing Examiner is to interpret, review, and implement land use regulations according to the Tumwater Municipal Code or any other city ordinances through open record decision and appeal hearings.
The examiner conducts public hearings and decides on matters such as variances, conditional use permits, preliminary plats, administrative appeals, shoreline permits, SEPA appeals, among other land use issues. The decision made by the hearing examiner is typically the City's final decision, unless an appeal is filed with Thurston County Superior Court. Hearing Schedule
Meetings are scheduled as needed in the Council Chambers at Tumwater City Hall.
