TUMWATER, WA— Local business owner and long-time youth sports coach, Brandon Weedon, has been selected to

take up Tumwater City Council position 1. The position on the council opened as Leatta Dahlhoff vacated it to become Mayor earlier this year.
Weedon brings core leadership and people skills to the work.
“I have volunteered for years coaching youth sports in Tumwater, working closely with families and recreation programs,” said Weedon. “Coaching reinforces the value of listening, leading with fairness, and creating safe, supportive spaces – principles I will bring to public service.”
Weedon also owns and operates a small family restaurant, bringing talents in community leadership, fiscal responsibility, resilience through change, and a practical understanding of how local policies and regulations affect businesses, workers, and families.
“The Council was impressed with Brandon’s focus on people, the skills and talents he would bring to this work, and his business and recreation background. There is no question Brandon loves Tumwater and our community.” said Mayor Dahlhoff. “Council is energized to work with him and move Tumwater forward--together.”
Weedon was selected by the council from a pool of candidates after competing for the position during an in-depth application and interview process. The City’s announcement from December detailed the steps in the process.
Weedon’s swearing in will take place during the regular City Council meeting starting at 7 p.m. on January 20 at Tumwater City Hall.
