Construction & Traffic Alert

Post Date:10/11/2019

Road Improvement Project – Expect Significant Delays
Capitol Boulevard
Israel Road SE – Tumwater Boulevard SE

Work Hours Vary
October – December, 2019

There will be intermittent lane closures on north- and south bound Capitol Boulevard from Israel Road SE to Tumwater Boulevard SE and traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between Israel Road and Tumwater Boulevard.

During road construction traffic may be reduced to a single lane of alternating one-way traffic.

Sidewalks will be closed at times and pedestrian detour signs will direct pedestrians to alternate routes.

Expect Significant Delays

This project will cause significant delays, traffic congestion, and backups throughout construction, specifically on Capitol Boulevard within the project limits and on approaching streets including Israel Rd, Tumwater Blvd and Old Hwy 99.

There will be a significant impact to residents, commuters, and businesses in the area.

Use Alternate Routes

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid traveling along Capitol Boulevard within the project limits and on approaching streets during construction. If it is not possible to use alternate routes, drivers should allow additional time to reach their destination.

24-Hour Work Schedule

Expect daytime and overnight work with some road construction on weekends. Work hours and days will vary – all scheduled road improvement work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Traffic Control

Traffic signals may be dark at times while work is underway. Traffic control and flaggers will be on site to assist drivers through the work zone.

Please drive slowly through the work zone, and comply with all instructions from flaggers.
