Street Light Conversion Project
Tumwater, WA – The City of Tumwater is beginning work on the second phase of a project to convert existing high pressure sodium street lights to LED. The initial phase of the project, completed in 2015, converted 932 street lights primarily on the City arterial and collector streets. This second phase will convert the remaining 652 City owned street lights throughout the City. A grant from the Department of Commerce is partially funding this project. The project is estimated to result in an annual energy savings of over $23,000.
The contractor, Northwest Edison, will perform a portion of the project, converting current lighting to LED lighting. You will see their trucks beginning mid-July through mid-August. Work will start in north Tumwater, moving south with very minimal disruption to traffic or access to City streets or sidewalks.Call the City of Tumwater Public Works Department at (360) 754-4140 with construction questions or concerns.
