Single lane traffic on Israel Road—please use alternate routes

Tumwater, WA —Drivers can expect lane closures due to major construction along Israel Road SW, between Littlerock Road and Interstate 5. This phase of activities will continue through December. Traffic control and flaggers will be in place; however, delays will occur and alternate routes are highly advised.

What’s happening? Active Construction has begun to widen the shoulder on Israel Road in preparation for the installation of a new sanitary sewer main being constructed as part of the City’s Israel Road and Tyee Drive Improvement project.  The depth of the sewer within the roadway will require that traffic be reduced to one lane which will be routed to a gravel shoulder along the existing roadway.  The lane closures will be controlled by flaggers alternating traffic in each direction while workers are digging this trench and placing the sewer main. Traffic will be restored to two lanes outside of construction hours.

Construction work hours are typically between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The entire project will take approximately six months to complete. Visit the City website for more information about the project.
