Finding out about the past is like putting together a puzzle. Some of the "puzzle pieces" are letters, diaries, books, and old newspaper articles. Tracing your family history using these sources is called genealogy. Many people do genealogy as a hobby. It can be fascinating to find out who your ancestors are. In fact, many people who live in Tumwater today are descendants of early pioneer families. For example, the descendants of Michael and Elizabeth Simmons, two of the first Tumwater pioneers, still get together for family reunions! |
