The Indians stayed in villages during the winter. They built large dwelling houses. These houses were made out of large cedar planks. Several families lived in each house.  In the summer they traveled to hunt, gather berries, and fish. Summer homes were portable shelters made of four long wooden poles covered with mats made of woven cedar bark. They could be easily taken apart and moved from campsite to campsite.
