| About the Research Center |
Why did we create it? The City of Tumwater’s Henderson House Museum regularly gets requests for information about Tumwater’s history. Many of these requests come from young people studying Washington State history in school. We thought it would be very convenient for people of all ages to have a place they could visit any time of day, seven days a week, to get started on their research into Tumwater’s history.
How did it get created? The City of Tumwater’s Henderson House Museum requested and received a full time volunteer from Washington Service Corps’ Americorps Program to create the Tumwater History Research Center (THRC.) We hired Sophie Starmack as our Education Coordinator to research, write, and design Phase I of the THRC for the internet.
Who helped us? Many other people helped us. Chauney Peck is an illustrator, artist, and senior at the Evergreen State College in Olympia. Chauney created many of the original drawings on our website. We also asked knowledgeable people in our community to help us review what Sophie Starmack had written. |
