WHITING HOUSE

Whiting House

Another type of Tumwater Lumber Mills design, this house illustrates the variety of their designs, this time executed in a English Revival style. The house is part of the "Swede Row" of model homes constructed by Tumwater Lumber Mills in the 1920s on Capitol Way.

Whiting House

This area of Tumwater was part of the Crosby Donation Land Claim. The house was built in 1929 for H. L. and Jane Whiting. Whiting was associated with the Olympia Knitting Mills and with developing the Olympia Airport. Whiting secured a mortgage for $3,900 to construct this house. The design of the house in a stucco version is in the 1925 Tumwater Lumber Mills Ready-Cut Homes Catalog.

Listed on the Tumwater Register of Historic Places.
