Winter Youth Recreational Basketball League:
The Tumwater Youth Basketball League is just around the corner.  Boys and girls in 3rd – 6th grade, that reside within the Tumwater School District boundaries, are eligible for play.  Practices will be held weeknights in local gymnasiums, with games scheduled for weekend play.  The season tips off in mid-October with games beginning in November.  Recreational play, skill development, teamwork, and fun are the focus of this league. 

Registration is open from September 1 thru October 8.  Please register Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm at Tumwater City Hall.  Additional Saturday registration will take place on October 8 from 10am to noon at Tumwater City Hall.  Late registrations will be processed only if there is space available and will be assigned to teams/schools needing players.  Registration fee includes team T-shirt.  Volunteer coaches are always needed and encouraged to contact Parks & Recreation at 754-4160 to receive a coach’s packet today!

Winter Youth Competitive Basketball League:

Coach’s organizational meeting will be held on Monday, October 3 at Tumwater City Hall at 6pm.  This league is open to competitive boy and girl teams.  Three divisions for each gender will consist of 6th, 7th, & 8th grade teams.  Team fee is $495 for the 10-game season.  Saturday & Sunday games begin in November and run through January.  Divisions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to teams that participated last year.  Registration is open from September 1 thru October 8.  Please register Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm at Tumwater City Hall.  Additional Saturday registration will take place on October 8 from 10am to noon at Tumwater City Hall.  Registration fee increases to $550 after October 8 if there is space still available.  Absolutely no refunds after October 8.  Call Tumwater Parks & Recreation at 754-4160 for details and to receive your registration packet today!

Elk’s “Hoop Shoot” Contest 2011/2012

It’s time to start perfecting your touch for the annual Elks free-throw shooting contest.  Be on the lookout for competitions offered through your elementary school.  Champions from each school & age category will compete in the citywide Tumwater Shoot-Off held in December at a local gymnasium.  Winners from that contest will advance to the Olympia Elks’ Lodge competition with the possibility of qualifying for district, state, regional and national competitions.  Tumwater has been well represented in this competition in the past, with kids advancing all the way to nationals!  Congratulations and good luck this year!
