The Old Town Center (OTC) is a full-service community resource center, offering a wide range of FREE and low cost programs/activities to area preschoolers, teens, pre-teens, and seniors every weekday


Child Development

Cradle to Crayons has provided high quality care for 21 years.  They believe that children learn best in a relaxed and joyful environment that nurtures each child’s self and family.  They work to create a home-like atmosphere where children can have their needs met and develop at their own pace.  Cradle to Crayons is a place where families can feel good about leaving their children knowing that they are safe and being cared for.
They accept ages 4 weeks to 6 years.

Rentals
OTC Main Facility Rental

The Old Town Center is a great place for active gatherings!  The Tumwater Old Town Center is available for Saturday and Sunday rental.  Use of entire first floor (excluding kitchen).  Capacity 150 - game room, gym, hot serving table, and dining room.  Call (360) 754-4160 for further information.

Reservation Form

Standard Rental Rates:
Minimum rental: 2 hours, $75 per hour plus a $120 damage deposit.
(* Security deposit refundable if facility is left in same condition as found.)


Youth Programs

General Information

The Old Town Center (OTC) offers programs for youth after 2:30pm on weekdays (see below for details). This is a FREE drop-in program, open to all youth! The OTC is fully supervised at all times. The center offers a nutritious snack every day, pool/foosball tables, gym/basketball court, computer access, homework tutoring, Wii & X-Box 360, board & card games, big screen TV/VCR/DVD, field trips, community service opportunities, arts and crafts, leadership and many more activities. In addition to these opportunities, there are activities scheduled each afternoon for a wide variety of youth interests.

Old Town Center Hours for Youth

Monday - Thursday
Grades 3 – 12 - 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Friday
Grades 3 - 6 - 2:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Grades 7– 12 - 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

(The OTC will be closed on Friday nights when there is a Tumwater Youth Program (TYP) Activity).

Bands!

If you are in middle or high school band and are looking for a place to showcase your musical styling for a live, young audience, OTC might be the place for you.  If you are interested in playing, call us at (360) 754-4160.

Teen Feed

OTC offers parents and teens a sit-down dinner at 6:30pm once a month.  Check the monthly calendar to see what day it will be.  Families welcome!!!

Tutoring and Homework

Help with homework is available everyday. Prizes can be earned for completing your homework assignments at the OTC.

Field Trips

OTC offers field trips each month. Come by and pick up a Teen Events Calendar to see what we have planned for this season.

Leadership

OTC is a great place to practice being a positive example, leading your peers, and getting along with others. We regularly highlight a youth for his or her outstanding leadership and present them with a certificate and prize.

OTC Volunteer Opportunities

The OTC is looking for volunteers to help out with the after-school program.  If you enjoy working with youth and teens in grades 3 through 12 and want to have a direct impact on your community, then come be a mentor!  Call us at (360) 754-4160 for more information.  


Senior Programs

General Information

OTC operates as a Senior Center weekdays from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  We provide seniors 55 and over, who are residents of the greater Tumwater area, with activities, lunch, coffee, snacks and fellowship.  An activity listing and monthly lunch menu is available.  Call (360) 754-4160 or visit our website at www.ci.tumwater.wa.us to get your copy today. Activities

Lunch

Lunch is served Monday – Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Cost is $2 per day or $20 for a 10-meal ticket.  Menus include a variety of meals (homemade soups, breads, casseroles, and salads) from the best cook in town!  No reservations necessary. Senior Menu

Pinochle

Join us Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for pinochle in the OTC dining room.  There is always somebody looking for a game.  FREE.

Bridge

Every Thursday is bridge day at OTC.  Join us as we play this exciting game in the dining room after lunch 12:00 p.m.  – 2:30 p.m. Beginners welcome!  FREE. 

Senior “Jam”

Do you like old time tunes and bluegrass music?  Every Tuesday from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m., you’ll find a group of like-minded folks ready to sing and play.  Join us in the multi-purpose room.  FREE!

 

Choir & Karaoke!!!
Meets Mondays and Fridays, 9:00 - 11:30am in the multi-purpose room.  The choir performs locally.  There will also be times when we do Karaoke on Fridays for FUN!  Come join us!  Call Jackie Jerome, at (360) 943-1805 for more information.  We need a piano player!!!  FREE!

Page Turners
Join us for a book discussion group led by Tumwater Library Staff here at OTC the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 12:30 – 1:30pm.  FREE!

Art Lessons
Join Jackie Jerome, a talented local artist, arts patron, and ball of energy, as she teaches seniors the basics from inks to oils.  The class is every Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00 - 11:30am in the multi-purpose room.  Advance registration is required.  See Jackie or call her, (360) 943-1805 to register.  Class size is limited.  This one fills up fast!  FREE!

Afternoon Art Gathering
Thursday, 12:30 – 2:15 pm.  Need more time to finish the art projects you have started?  Here’s your chance!  No formal instruction, just an opportunity for you to work on old or new art projects!  Please call Caroline at (360) 753-5023 if interested in joining.  FREE!

Hooks and Needles
Mondays, 12:30 – 2:15pm.  Come join our afternoon needlework group as we help each other with old and new projects!  In interested, please call 252-5467 and ask for Orla or Caroline.  FREE!

Bible Study
Fridays, 9:00 – 10:00am.  Study by sections or subjects.  Led by Gill La France, (360) 878-8244.  FREE!

Senior Trips

Senior Services for South Sound offers several Senior Trips throughout the year!
