TUMWATER
A Place to Live, Work and Play

We live in a city that is blessed with natural beauty and a sense of community spirit and pride.  As Washington’s first community, we have countless opportunities to enjoy our city and our lifestyle in Tumwater.  It may be our rich history that attracts visitors and locals alike, or it could be the abundance of trees and natural areas that makes our community special to you.  Tumwater parks provide active and passive recreation opportunities for thousands of users each year.  Youth and adult sports, picnics, reunions, children’s activities, sports camps, trails, toys, and water access are just a few of the amenities that our parks provide.  You may also take part in one of our annual special events.

It’s been a busy, fun-filled summer in our city and we look forward to more activities and community programs as we head into fall.  Tumwater Parks and Recreation held dozens of events, classes, trips, and camps this summer and our park facilities have been overflowing with people enjoying what Tumwater has to offer.

Tumwater’s 4th of July activities boasted a record number of participants this year!  The 23rd Annual Tumwater Independence Day Parade was a great success.  Thousands of residents came out to watch, participate in, and enjoy the beginning of Tumwater’s biggest single-day event.  Later that evening, over 8,000 people filled the golf course driving range for the 9th Annual Tumwater Artesian Festival at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course driving range. The night was complete when the brewery whistle blew once again and the Thunder Valley Fireworks Show delighted spectators at the golf course and surrounding neighborhoods.  This fireworks display is the biggest and best show that residents in the south sound see all year - and this year’s show was undeniably the best yet!

In Tumwater, community events are only possible with community participation.  Special events like Tumwater’s 4th of July celebration take countless volunteers, business support, donations and coordination with local and regional organizations.  While the City sponsors the 4th of July events, they wouldn’t happen without the generous support of our community members.  The Tumwater Downtown Association pays for the entire Thunder Valley Fireworks Show each year and numerous other businesses help sponsor the Artesian Festival.  These sponsors include O Bee Credit Union, Olympia Federal Savings, Tumwater United Rental, The Olympian, MIXX 96, KGY, ROXY 94.5, MVP Athletic, The Barn and Great Western Supply, Nelson Insurance, Tumwater Cut Rate Auto, Marine View Beverage, Joseph de Jesus DDS, Aardvark Gardening, The Brick, Donald Sampson DDS, The Business Examiner, Russell Chiropractic, Martin’s Southgate Drug, Eastside Chiropractic, Tumwater Automotive, Morton Accounting, TCTV and the Community Guide.

Whether or not you participate in one of our programs or activities this fall, we urge you to get out and RECREATE!
