Intermittent Phone Service

Posted Friday, June 22, 2018 (updated 10:15 a.m.; posted 9:08 a.m.)

Some incoming calls to Tumwater City Hall and other City facilities are impacted by a disruption in phone service. Our phone provider is working to identify the problem, and repair the issue. This does not impact emergency calls to 911.

If you have attempted to call us and have been unsuccessful, please be assured that we are still on the job and here to serve you!

As an alternative, look for information about City services in the “I Want To..” section of the website, or use the Staff Directory to send an email with your inquiry.

We do not have an estimated time for repair. Thank you for your patience.

On Wednesday, October 16th, work to upgrade the VOA website will take place between 1500 UTC and 1900 UTC. Visitors to our website may experience problems during that time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Tumwater School Resource Officer

School-Resource-Officer-with-Mascots-002The School Resource Officers (SRO) provide school-based policing within the Tumwater School District sites, especially at Black Hills High School (BHHS), Tumwater High School (THS), Tumwater Middle School (TMS), and Bush Middle School (BMS).

The Tumwater Police Department and the Tumwater School District work collaboratively to provide a safe learning environment in our district’s schools. The SRO is able to provide valuable tools and resources to school staff, parents, and students, to create positive relationships with the students and develop strategies to resolve problems with the goal of educating and protecting the students and staff. In addition, the School Resource Officer is generally tasked with providing assistance to Patrol and the Detectives Division by assisting with enforcement and investigations that occur at the schools.

The Tumwater Police Department SRO's schedule follows the school district schedule. The SRO works on assignment within the Investigation’s Division during school breaks. Although the majority of duties are concentrated at the two district high schools and the two district middle schools, the SRO is responsible for providing services to all Tumwater School District sites within the City, including the four elementary schools.
