Public Records Request

The City of Tumwater has adopted rules and regulations to carry out the public disclosure requirements of Chapter 42.56 RCW, which are codified in the Tumwater Municipal Code Chapter 2.88.  Below is a link to the Public Records Act Rules that were adopted. If you would like to request records that are not available on this website, you may complete a form and submit to the City Clerk.  If you are requesting a list of individuals, you also need to fill out the affidavit for that and submit both forms together.

Public Records Request Fees Return Policy

We accept no returns for fees paid for Public Records Requests once the fee has been paid and records have been picked up.

Police Records

Please note, the City Clerk does not maintain Police records. Please address requests for police records to the Police Public Disclosure Clerk at Tumwater City Hall Police Department, phone number (360) 754-4192  or email See Police Records for more information.

City Response

Within five business days after the City receives the written request, the City will either:

  • Provide the record; 

  •  Acknowledge that the City has received the request and provide a reasonable estimate of the time the City will require in order to respond to the request; or 

  • Deny the request. If the request is denied, the City will respond in writing, cite the legal exemption, and explain how the exemption applies to the request.


There is a $.15 per page copying charge for paper records of more than ten pages, per the City's adopted fee schedule. Fees for the provision of other types of records, e.g., maps or CDs, are established by City ordinance. See Fee Schedule for more information.
