Who Needs a License?
A general business license is required for businesses operating within the city limits of Tumwater, including canvassers, mobile units, peddlers, solicitors and businesses that are located outside the city limits but performs services for customers inside the city limits.

Renewal
General Licenses renew annually for $20.00, in addition to the MLS $9.00 processing fee. (Physical address changes at renewal time require city approval).
The expiration date of the city's license will be set to coincide with the renewal period established for each business's Business License.
Payment types accepted
Check, Certified Check, or Money Order – Made payable to the Washington State Treasurer.
Special Considerations:
Non-Profit Business License
A Non-Profit License is required for businesses that have been granted an IRS 501(C) status or are registered with Washington's Office of Secretary of State as a non-profit corporation. The licensee must complete a Business License Application, City Addendum and also provide a copy of their IRS 501 (C) certificate if they are not registered as a non-profit corporation with Washington's Office of Secretary of State. City approval required for initial issuance, and must renew annually.
